The Road to Chateau Cromer

It's no secret that Clay and I have been building our dream home, but it has taken everything in me not to post all the pictures and details of the process!  Now that our move-in date is extra close, and I have collected several pictures from five phones and one camera, I figured now is the perfect time to show the timeline of the process through said pictures.

Clay and I purchased our lot from my parents.  My dad and one of his friends developed the section of the neighborhood we are moving to, and this was the last lot that my dad owned.
Before it was cleared ^

It's a beautiful 1.25 acre corner lot in a quiet little Lacombe neighborhood.  The Tammany Trace backs up to the neighborhood, and I am super anxious to get on my bike and ride the 11 miles to and from the Mandeville Trailhead Local Market every Saturday morning for some fresh flowers and fruit!
Being cleared

The floor plan process took F O R E V E R, which meant it took forever to break ground.  But, when it finally happened, the feeling was so worth it.  Clay and I walked together all over the finally cleared land where our future home would sit.

The whole process is a little bit stressful, a little bit strange, and a whole lot of fun.  Things started off slow, then went fast, then slowed down again, then picked up again, and now that we are in the home stretch with only a handful of small things left to finish, time could not be going by any
S L O W E R!

But we know it will be worth every little bit of stress and anxiety when we finally get to move in.

Master bath... thought it was weird that the tubs are one of the first things installed!

His and Hers garages

Clay did all of the electronics wiring with my dad

My absolute favorite part of this house is the kitchen!  We have a very open living area that is to die for (in my opinion) :)

Kitchen cabinets installed

Painted and a countertop!

Originally, our back patio was just wide enough to put a chair.  It was pitiful.  So, before we even even start moving in, we already made an addition!  We had some more concrete poured to make a nice, usable back patio.

Pouring it in
Finished!

Another one of my favorites in the house is the fireplace and flooring.  See for yourself why!

Start of the flooring!
I'm not showing any final/moved-in pictures until after the housewarming party, BUT I will be doing some posts about some of the decorating and craftiness I will be doing... so stay tuned and you will get some sneak peeks!

Clay is already doing yard work

We could not have done this without both sets of our parents.  My wonderful parents built us this home (I'm not a spoiled brat, we payed for it ;)), and Clay's wonderful parents let us live in their house with our two dogs for a year!  We are SO incredibly grateful for them!

Driveway going down

We have had many people tell us that if you can build a house together, you can survive anything else in your marriage.
I have also heard that the first year is really rough.
Many people also say that living with your in-laws tests your marriage.
Well, we went for the tri-fecta this year and did it ALL at once.
And guess what...
WE STILL LOVE EACH OTHER! AND CAN'T WAIT TO KEEP LIVING TOGETHER!

I guess that means we have a great road ahead of us :)

2014, You Were SO Good to Me

2015, I can't wait to see what you have in store!

You know I have to do the obligatory New Year's Eve recap :)

2014 was a fabulous year in the life of Me.  It wasn't perfect, it wasn't easy, but it was fabulous.

For my 22nd birthday in February, I got to PLAY WITH PENGUINS. PENGUINS! My favorite animal!

In April, I married my best friend!

In May, I graduated from LSU.  I tried explaining to my husband that anyone can be an LSU fan - a football fan - but until you GO there, you don't understand what it means to Love Purple, Live Gold.  You don't understand what it feels like to bleed purple & gold.  LSU is a part of me that I am extremely proud of.

Also in May, Clay and I went on a dream honeymoon to Italy!

In August, I started my dream job as a teacher in one of the best districts in the state!

In November, we FINALLY started the building process of our very first home as husband and wife. It's the thing I look forward to most in 2015!

In December, we had another wonderful Christmas with family :)

And today, New Year's Eve, we will be ringing in 2014 with great company in the Big Easy.

Here's to you, 2015!

xoxo,
E

Oh, yeah, P.S. - this is a new blog.  New job, new wife, new life = new blog!
